Dear Colleagues and Friends,

Thank you all for making the sixth Joint Meeting a great success. We surely have combatted significant inroads into future proof genetics. For that, we would not only like to thank the speakers, but also all of the 341 attendees (101 from the UK and 240 from the Netherlands). We very much appreciated all the input in the lively discussions and enthusiastically tossing of the microphone dice.

We would especially like to thank all the laureates for their presentations, in order of appearance: Andrew Wilkie (Carter lecture), Mala Isrie (Ben ter Haar prize), Joanna Kennedy (Robin Winter prize), Sanne ten Broeke (Dutch SpR prize), and Lotte Kleinendorst (poster prize).

On behalf of the conference organisers,
Frederik Hes, chairman of the Dutch Society of Clinical Genetics

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

With great pleasure we invite you to Utrecht to join us for the  6th Joint Spring Conference of the UK /Dutch Clinical Genetics Societies & Cancer Genetics groups.  The meeting will be held on 12 and 13 March in the music hall TivoliVredenburg, located in the Utrecht city centre, right next to the central train station. Direct trains from Schiphol airport take you there in just 30 minutes.

Utrecht is a city with a rich historical and cultural backgroundwith city rights since 1122. The Dom tower, vital to the image of the city’s contours, was built on Roman foundations of the castellum traiectum. The latter formed also the basis of the city’s current name.

The joint scientific committee, chaired by local host Bernadette van Nesselrooij, is putting together a wonderful scientific programme “Future Proof Clinical Genetics”, which aims to cover as much as possible of the whole field of clinical genetics.  Talks from trainees, selected from submitted abstracts, will be included in the final programme.  We encourage all trainees to send in abstracts following the instructions on this website and to compete for the traditional awards. Apart from these awards, the Carter lecture and the Ben ter Haar prize lecture will also be part of the programme. After the conference dinner on Monday 12 March we aim to offer you another smashing performance of the Gene Express.

Similar to the previous joint meetings there will also be the Dysmorphology Meeting, this time hosted by Dr. Mieke van Haelst  This meeting will take place on 14 March, further information will follow on this website.

The meeting has CPD approval by the Royal college of Physicians and accreditation will be achieved for the Dutch Society of Clinical Genetics.  Please contact the secretary of the meeting organisation Routine (info@jointmeeting2018.com) for further questions.

We are proud that we can continue our joint meeting tradition. A great time to meet with colleagues and friends, and to discuss joint interests in another beautiful historic Dutch city. We encourage you to come to Utrecht and are looking forward to welcoming you on 12 March 2018.

Frederik Hes,
Chair Dutch Society of Clinical Genetics
